Add a new printer

You may have purchased a new printer to replace your old one, or purchased an additional printer to be used for particular tasks. Follow the steps below for "Changing printer output to a new printer", or "Adding an additional printer" respectively:


In both cases, ensure you have installed the printer correctly on your Windows first, and test printing from another program - such as notepad, Word or an email.


Changing printer output to a new printer


Either instruct Transactor Desktop to print to your Windows default printer, or set it to use your specific printer.

To use your Windows default printer, ensure your printing rules are set to send to "Printer Windows Default".

To use a specific printer, rather than the Windows default printer:

You need to change the printer Send To channel so it sends to your new printer:

  • Open the Control Centre (from the Tools menu)
  • Click on Setup Wizard at the top left
  • Click on "Send To's" in the vertical menu on the left
  • Double click on the row for your current printer. This is likely to show "Printer" in the first column, and "Printer (general)" in the second column
  • Click the "Assign to Printer" button
  • Select your new printer in the "Name" box at the top of the screen that appears
  • Click OK to save the new setting
  • Click OK on the "Edit SendTo" screen to save your changes


Adding an additional printer


You need to create a new Send To channel for the new printer:

  • Open the Control Centre (from the Tools menu)
  • Click on Setup Wizard at the top left
  • Click on "Send To's" in the vertical menu on the left
  • Click the green plus symbol on the right, to add a new Send To channel
  • Enter a Name that you will recognise as your new printer, such as "Printer for Invoices" or "Printer Epson"
  • Change the "Type" box to Printer (General), or Printer (label) for a label printer
  • Click the "Assign to Printer" button
  • Select your new printer in the "Name" box at the top of the screen that appears
  • Click OK to save the new setting
  • Click OK on the "Edit SendTo" screen to save your changes

Now you will be able to choose this printer from your list of available outputs when creating a report.
